Pennies

We are saving our pennies, nickles, and every last dime in order to grow our family. It comes so easy to most – for us, we’re looking at a big financial hit. Gav and I have had five unsuccessful IUI’s – each at 550 dollars a go, not including travel expenses. We’re in a whole new ball game now. Our upcoming IVF cycle is expected to cost approximately 15,000 dollars. We also know that we have a 60 percent chance of success – good chance that this might take a few rounds. I’ve heard that the first round is often an experiment for doctors to learn all about your body and how you will react to medication.

In Canada there is no medical coverage for IVF treatments, and insurance won’t cover a dime.

This estimate does not include travel and accommodation expenses for the week we will have to travel and remain in Vancouver.

Sometimes I wonder how we are going to afford this. Somehow, we will afford all of this.

I figured it would maybe help someone out to see exactly what and IVF cycle financially looks like, in detail. We are in the very early stages, so expect this list to grow… and grow and grow and grow!
